Press releases on the Craven Clinic

July 2016

Anna Tillotson, a Structural Osteopath has recently joined Craven Clinic. Anna, who had her own practice in Darlington, has returned to her Craven roots with her young family.

As I have been suffering with pain in my hip and lower back I took the opportunity to discuss this.

Anna took a history of my symptoms and following a thorough osteopathic examination (I had to bend a variety of ways) a right sacro-iliac dysfunction with tight myofascial muscle proved to be my problem.

Anna did what she called "Osteopathic Manual Therapy", which used traction, articulation and functional techniques to address my restrictions in the lower lumber spine and hips.

It's not as painful as it sounds!

Anna created gentle movements in different ways around the joint and muscle.

After my treatment, Anna discussed specific exercises to speed up the healing process. Some of the exercises she advises are Pilates based as she is qualified to teach one to one (APPI) Pilates.

After the first treatment my pain reduced and my movement increased. What I hadn't realised was that this muscle had been restricting my movement gradually for some time, lifting my leg to go upstairs had begun to be a problem.

Lower back pain which accounts for 50% of Osteopath cases can start similar to mine.

To book an appointment for any joint pain and muscle problems please contact us at Craven Clinic.
