Sarah Fleet

Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling

I am a specialist children & young persons therapist who works with clients from the age of 3 to 24 years. With over thirteen years of experience working with children and young people across a variety of contexts, I have provided support for a wide range of difficulties.

How I work

I am a conscientious and compassionate therapist who will provide you, your son or your daughter with a consistent, safe and non-judgemental therapeutic space in which experiences, thoughts, feelings and choices can be explored.

This exploration can be through talking, by working with creative arts materials or both. Creative materials (such as paints, clay and sand) are provided simply as an alternative means of self-expression to talking – it doesn’t mean that anybody coming to therapy needs to feel skilful with art-type things!

Whatever gets created, it will hold meaning for the creator and we work therapeutically with that.

Whether time is spent talking or creating (or both) it will always be your or your child’s choice about what gets explored and how things get explored. For very young clients, much therapeutic work will be achieved almost entirely through play.

The distinct therapeutic environment that I provide, along with the different talking or creative explorations, will facilitate a deepening of self-understanding and self-belief so providing the opportunity to move positively forward and out of current struggles.

Relevant academic & professional credentials

  • MEd in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling (University of Cambridge)
  • Advanced Diploma in The Therapeutic & Educational Application of the Arts (London Metropolitan University)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (University of Leeds)
  • Full member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy – I abide by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2016)
  • Transferable, Enhanced DBS

I charge £47 for each 50 minutes session, with the exception of the first session. The first session is free of charge – this is a time to decide if working with me feels the right thing to do whilst I gain a better understanding of therapeutic needs.
